I've downloaded and unzipped the manual. I cannot find an .htm file that gives full use of the manual. I find only .html files that produce text with no images. What am I missing?

Where did you get the manual from? Please post a link.

I've searched and can't find the link that I used, but I know that it came from the Audacity web site. When I unzipped the downloaded file (audacity-manual-1.2.zip) I got a folder, manual_1.2, containing several subfolders. One of the subfolders, images, contains many .png image files. Unfortunately, I can find no convenient way of making use of these images. My guess is that I'm missing an .htm file to put everything together.

Let's make sure that you have the correct file.

Go to this page: http://audacityteam.org/help/documentation

Click on the link that says "Download the Audacity manual in HTML format."

Unzip (extract) the file.

You will now have a folder called "manual-1.2"

Open the folder and look for the file called "index.html"

For convenience, you could make a desktop shortcut to index.html

I've just re-downloaded the manual, unzipped it, and now it works. It beats me what's different about it. It contains exactly the same number of bytes. Just to make sure that I'm not completely mad, I tried my old copy once more. it still doesn't work. At this point I'll just throw out the old one and forget about the problem.
