Recording from DAT player
Can you record onto Audacity from a DAT player? I have a USB cable that should work. If you CAN do this, what setting do you use (mic, line in, CD player, etc.) I'm thinking a CD player and a DAT player should have the same levels and impedence in the output, but I'm too chicken to try it. Anybody know? Thanks. Beck7272 (Brian)

Re: Recording from DAT player
I plug my turntable/pre-amp, my tapedeck, both my minidisc decks and my FM tuner through my external USB soundacrd (Edirol UA-1EX) and all work fine. The Edirol has the advantage that it has a gain control so the varied input levels from the different devices can be adjusted via the soundcard.
So I reckon that your DAT tape should be ok. I assume that it has RCA line-outs? Otherwise, if you are going out though a headphone socket then you may find the level a bit high.
