Changing the pitch (woman's into a man's voice?)

A website recently 'plugged' your software over its ability to change a females pop tune into a more male sounding voice. However when downloading the software and reading the user guide and online help, I cant seem to find how you do this using the 'pitch' option. All it seemed to do was change the sound waves a different colour, with no sign of changing the voice tone? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Kevin

Audacity 1.3.5 (beta) has 3 related effects.

Change Speed... This changes the playback speed of the selected audio (by re-sampling the data). Both the speed and the pitch will change. Increasing the speed will make speech sound like a fast chipmunk. Lowering the speed will sound like an overgrown mud monster.

Change Tempo... This changes the speed of the playback, but maintains the same pitch. There will be some "colouration" of the sound as the effect works by stretching or squashing the sound and must either remove some of the samples, or add in extra samples. If you make large changes to the tempo, the tone of the sound will become a bit "wobbly" and "artificial" sounding. Small changes in tempo will still sound tonally very similar to the original, just a bit faster or slower.

Change Pitch... This changes the pitch of the sound while keeping the original tempo. As with "Change Tempo", large changes can produce wobbly artificial sounding audio, but small changes will sound reasonably natural.
