cant select Wave Out Mix (gray bar)

hello im having some trouble with audacity 1.2.6 where i have to select wave out mix is gray and clicking dose nothing. is this a vista issue? if so how can i fix it?

i cant find the problem on the list please help i really need this program to work.
can you tell me more spacificly what it is i need to fix and how :geek:
