Error when opening aup.bak file

I recorded and saved a podcast yesterday. After saving it, I replayed a portion of the audio and it was fine. When I closed it, I selected "No" when prompted about whether I wanted to save changes (I wanted the original format).

Now the project.aup file is empty. Nothing plays.

I tried to open the project.aup.bak file and I get the following error message: "error 2: the system cannot find the file specified."

I really need help in recovering these files. Thank you.
