Recording error, please help!

Post by xajoshua » Sat Sep 13, 2008 5:42 pm

Hi everyone, I'm new to the board because this is the first time I've had trouble with Audacity. I recorded a lecture today, just as I have several dozen times before. Everything looked like it was working fine - sound file was playing out across my screen as the person spoke. But then when I went to stop the recording Audacity seemed to freeze for a second. When it started working again, I tried to save the project but that option wasn't available under the file menu. It was in grey (the only working options were "new", "open", "recent files" and "exit"). It seemed like it didn't record the lecture, but the sound file was still there on my screen. I can move around to different parts of the file, and I can select sections of it. However, it will not play anything when I press play. The pause button is not turned on. I cannot copy the file into a new Audacity project; it tells me that there's nothing to copy.

Does anybody know what's going on here? Is there any chance of recovering my recording???
