After I have recorded a track on Audacity 1.3, I Save As (filename).aup, as .aup is the only choice that is given.
However, when I try to open that file, it acts like it is opening , and the file name appears at the top of the interface , but there is no audio track image and all the controls are grayed-out as if there is nothing there.
Help????

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Saving Recordings to Hard Drive
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. To get a stand-alone sound file, use Export As WAV or Export As MP3.
Try opening Audacity first then File > Open the AUP file.
If you cleaned up or deleted any files after you saved the AUP, then there may be any show there to open. AUP isn't a sound file. It's a computer program that points to other sound files and clips.
