Hello all, I can record live radio excellently using Audicity also my guitars. Is it possible to delay live radio by (example) 4 seconds during a live transmission and play it as further recording takes place. A live time shift, something like one has with hard drive video recorders. Is there such a programme please. I watch live football from abroad and the commentry is on radio in english but a few seconds ahead of the video. XP. Absolute beginner.

Audacity does not do real time processing.

just an off-the-wall-thought: might it be possible to set the latency (may need 1.3 for this) to create the required delay ??
Normally people want to reduce the latency as much as possible - but if you can move it in one direction then maybe you can move it in the other.. Any thoughts folks ?

My only hope is a radio with time shift and they are not cheap.

frund,
following up on my thouhhts above - if you install the Audacity Beta 1.3.5, go to Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O and experiment with different settings for the Latency.
This may achieve what you need - and if it does work, please report back so that othere may benefit in the future from your newly acquired knowledge.

Using the "latency" settings was the first thing that came to mind when I read this question so I had a play with it, but no joy.
If you have access to 2 old "reel-to-reel" tape recorders, some 1/4" audio tape and a reel of Sellotape, I can show you a way to do it.
