line in stopped working

Post by thermal » Thu Sep 11, 2008 12:39 am

I have a Dell E520 with a 2.8 dual core & 2 GIG ram, plenty of room on the hard drive. I have been successfully recording with 1.26 for about 4 months by connecting the speaker output to the line in connection. Everything was working great and all of a sudden I can't record on line in. I checked all of the settings in vista(line in is enabled) but the cursor line just flashes. I can connect the speakers to the mic input and it will work but that is mono only. I deleted and reloaded 1.26 and then loaded 1.35. Still the line in won't work. The cursor just freezes and blinks with no activity on the VU meters. Again, I didn't change any settings and it was working perfectly for months. Any ideas?

Thanks, I already checked all of the hardware connections. The cursor won't even move when line in is selected. It will move for both mics even though there are no mics hooked up.

What have you got the Project Rate set at, and how many channels are set in Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O
Try setting it to 44100 and 1 channel (mono) and see what happens.
