Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Export options not available for selection?

Post by macewant » Wed Sep 10, 2008 4:20 pm

Using Ver 1.2.4 with Vista and none of the Export Options are available to me after recording a Project. The only time those Options are made available is if I opt to Exit/Close Audacity entirely. After Audacity prompts about Saving the Project before exiting, then Export Options are made available. The actual Export then works fine (doing MP3's using LAME), but Audacity closes each time and needs to be launched again for more Projects. I just updated to 1.2.6 hoping that it might resolve the concern, but I am encountering the same issue.

Recording from a turntable..., if that makes any difference.

But just in case it's not (turntables can cause insane problems) download the piano trill from here...

...and see if the export and save options behave. It's six seconds lone and it's a known good working sound file.

All of the 1.2.x versions are quite dated now - 1.3.x is virtually at the point of becoming 1.4 (stable), so it's worth doing the upgrade. There are a few minor differences to the user interface, but the Audacity wiki (link at top of page) has lots of help articles (the "Tutorials" and "Tips" sections are well worth a look).
