When recording track 2, track 1 is copied to track 2. Track 2 becomes a louder version of track 1. Help. I am pulling my hair out

You can get that in Windows machines if you have Mix-Out or What You Hear selected in addition to your regular recording pathway. The playback sound package becomes part of the new recording.
These are the same settings you need to have to record internet audio, so you may need to put them back later.

Also check that you do not have "software playthrough" selected in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O".

thanks for your replies. The answer that did it for me, (I located on the forum back a month), a fella had the same issue. Disbale the 'Mix out'. When it was ecplained that a "spade is a spade, unless it's called a shovel", made sense to me. I am up and running and laid my furst 12 track audio last night.
