Effect > Change Pitch, although I'd be in Audacity 1.3 for these tools.

You will find that there is no "Professional Announcer" plugin, in spite of my April First posting. Announcing voice has a lot to do with presentation and annunciation and not just pitch. Humphrey Bogart's voice was higher than Lauren Bacall.
"You know how to whistle, don't you Jake..."
Anyway, if you do have a terminally high voice, I'd go about generating my own vocal personality rather than trying to sound like Don LaFontaine.

Actually, most technology lets you hear yourself the way we hear you, all nasal and whiny and stuff.<g>Like all technology my mic makes my voice 20x higher

Re: Pitch
And I can't stress enough a high quality microphone and good recording environment. Nothing screams "Mom's Basement" more than room echoes (bathroom sound) and scratchy or thumping presentation.
Post a little of your work. An MP3 would do it, although better is about 3 to 5 minutes of FLAC audio. Post with the Upload tools at the bottom of the text composition page. We've been known to do corrections and post them back to you, although you might have to wait for the earth to go around once.
