why cant i edit tracks saved to my pc from a cd?

Post by joegarlic » Fri Sep 05, 2008 10:36 pm

Whenever i open a track from a cd to edit the track is installed but rather than seeing and hearing the full track a 4 min song is interpreted into about 2 secs and makes a horrible high pitched sound. Songs i have downloaded from the internet work fine and i can hear the whole song. Can anyone offer some advice?

How are you "opening a track from a CD"?

Audacity can not play CD tracks, you need to either rip the track from the CD with appropriate software, or play the track with a CD/media player and record it.

In either case, you should rip/record the track as a "16 bit 44.1 kHz WAV" file.
