lost/blank project

I had a saved project, and I was editing out pops caused by a bad signal cable.

The pop/click tool didn't work too well, so I was editing sample points by hand zoomed it very far.

I had done this for an hour... resaved the project... then another hour or so... and then Audacity crashed.

I expected to lose all I had done since the last save, but when opening the project with audacity... nothing shows up... there are no tracks.

There's the AUP file, and the data files all look to be there.

Help me if you can!

Thanks for the link.

That seems to primarily be intended for temp files, or data files without an associated aup file.

The aup file for the project is there from the last time I saved, but when I open it... no tracks show up, even though it looks like the data's all there.

I'm guessing that if you open the AUP file in a text editor, there will not be much in it? Or not much that actually relates the locations of the data files that you have?

I'm not betting on your chances of success, but here's something you can try:
Audacity 1.2.6 yes?

Make a copy of the data folder.
Make a copy of the AUP file.
Check in the Audacity temp directory - anything in there?

If the temp folder is NOT empty, try the Audacity Recovery Utility on the files in the temp folder.

If the temp folder IS empty, try the Audacity Recovery Utility on the files in your new copy of the data folder.

Sorry I can't give detailed instructions, but I'm on Linux not Windows.
Also, I've not needed to use this tool myself, though I've heard of others having success with it, so I'm not sure how it decides what folders to look in for the .au files (other than the Audacity temp directory). If the tool can not find your copied data files, you could try moving (copying) the .au files into Audacities temp folder.
