Hello guys, I just started using this program to open MOGG files but for some reason whenever I try to put it in the program it only makes a 1-2 second screeching sound. I'm really confused right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3 and then install the FFMpeg software from the same web site.
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can put both versions of Audacity on your machine.
Audacity tries to open up highly compressed sound files whether it understands them or not. The screech is the difference between the natural duration of the file and the percent compression. Two to one data compression will fly by twice as fast.

Thanks, I tried what you said but I keep getting an error message that says that Audacity doesn't recognize the file and that I should try the "Import Raw" option. I tried it but I kept getting the screeching sound.

And what would he need to do if he already did that. (Sorry if I'm calling you a male when you're a female, I'm just being that person.)

He/she probably hasn't.

How do you know what kind of file it is, and does it play in anything else?

Actually, you provide a very valid point there.
