Re: Mic sounds distorted =[
Excellent. It seems like a very nice microphone. I'm writing this down. I would want the 200 because I want the filters and attenuators.
Anyway, you can't plug this microphone directly into a computer. There are electronics inside it that need 48V Phantom Power battery to travel up the microphone cable at the same time that the sound is coming down. Where is your phantom power coming from? If the microphone doesn't have its own battery supply, it usually comes from the sound mixer or desk.
As a first shot at this, I would turn everything off and disconnect and reconnect each cable like twice. Bad connections will drive phantom power nuts and if you've been using them a long time, it may be time for a little "exercise." If you have a mixer, switch the phantom power on and off several times (while the mixer is off!)
Turn it all back on and see what happens.
You're on a Windows machine. Did you just recently upgrade your Windows Drivers?
