changing the colors of the screen

hi all,
is there any chance to customize the screen color (the default grey) on the version 1.2 or 1.3 ?

What do you mean - the selected colour in the waveform or the background colour below the track?
The answer is basically no unless you are a programmer and want to modify Audacity, in which case build the latest Beta development source code:
http://audacityteam.org/community/developers#svn .
If you are not a programmer all you can do is go back to an old buggy Beta (1.3.8):

then try out the "Theming" feature:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Theme_Preferences .
