Hi,

I'm attempting to record from vinyl using an audio interface because my laptop doesnt have a line in option and also to achieve good sound quality.
Audacity is recognising the device and I'm selecting it as the 'Recorder' buy when I press Record I'm receiving a message saying there is a problem with opening the sound device and I need to check input settings and stream settings.

Does anyone have any idea where I'm going wrong?

We live on high-quality information. Who made the interface and what's the model number?

The very first time anybody has troubles with Audacity 1.2 we tell them to stop using it. It's very old and unstable. Get and install Audacity 1.3 from here...

When you straighten all that out, go into Audacity Preferences and set Recording for Stereo and Quality for 44100, 16-bit. Restart Audacity.

You might be able to get Audacity 1.2 to do this, but the very next step in vinyl capture is post production and much of that is not supported in Audacity 1.2. So you'd be right back to downloading Audacity 1.3.
