Recording using an audio interface - problem

I'm attempting to record from vinyl to pc using a usb audio interface. Audacity is recognising the device and I am selecting it as the 'recorder' but when i press record i receive a message stating 'error whilst opening sound device, check input settings and project sample rate'

Any ideas where im going wrong?

Try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13.
If you still have the problem, please give details about what the usb audio interface is, what version of Windows and any other information that may be relevant.

I'm now running the most up to date version of Audacity but the problem remains. I'm using a Numark Djio interface and my computer has Windows 7 Home Premium
Any more hints much appreciated!

Sorry I don't get it - do you mean this:

That only has a mic input as far as I can see? So you would not get RIAA compensation and the result would be a tinny recording.

Otherwise, it could be a drivers problem (you have 32-bit drivers but Windows is 64-bit). If you mean DJIo, it says its drivers are ASIO. Audacity doesn't support ASIO unless you compile your own Audacity build with ASIO turned on.

Or it could be a sample rate mismatch. Try 44100 Hz or 88200 Hz bottom left of the Audacity screen and also in "Default Format" in "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel:
