Can't record XP sound at the same time as Mic audio!

Hi there I've just downloaded Audacity in order to record my voice over tutorial videos on you tube.
However I can't see a way to record my voice through my mic at the same time as the sound coming from my computer, so they can be put together into one sound file. Is there a way to do this??

I'm running Windows XP, is that part of the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a bad idea. Make one mistake (a cough or splutter) and you can't delete the cough without deleting the audio of the video.

This is the correct way. Record the video's audio into Audacity:

or download it ( search Google for programs to download audio from YouTube - you will want one that converts the audio to WAV). Then import the WAV into Audacity, set the Audacity Audio I/O Preferences to "Play other tracks while recording new one", and record against the Audacity playback into a separate track. Now you can edit the mic track separately and it's a higher quality recording of the mic into the bargain.

If you must record computer playback together with your mic, go to Sounds and Audio Devices in the Windows Control Panel, click "Volume" in "Sound playback", then remove the check from the "mute" box for the microphone. If it works (it is not guaranteed) this will play what you are recording through the output and so will allow the stereo mix or similar recording device to capture the mic as well as the audio from the video.
