Hi,
We use Audacity in all our ICT Lessons, unfortunatly we cannot get it to work correctly.
We have the program installed onto a network share available to all users, the icon on the start menu then points to this location to run the program.
The trouble we are having is when we try to either save a project or export to a file. When we try either of these we get an access denied error, although the mapped drives we are trying to export or save to are set to full control for the user.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Network Saving
Audacity does not work well across a network. If you're working on a text document, it does not matter if data gets briefly held up during transfer across the network, but for audio recording it is catastrophic. I would highly recommend that you (or your IT administrator) install Audacity on the local machines. You will need to ensure that Audacity's "temp" directory is writeable.
Also, development of the Audacity 1.2 series ended several years ago. I would highly recommend that you use Audacity 1.3.13. I realise that many schools have policies against using any software that has "beta" in the name, but in the case of Audacity the current 1.3.13 version is a very mature beta and is more stable on modern computers than the old 1.2 version.
If you wish to try Audacity 1.3.13 you can do so without installing it. All you need to do is to download the ZIP version, extract the contents of the ZIP file to a writeable location on your local drive, then double click on the audacity.exe file to run the program.
