Voice Distorion

ok i've got three videos all of which had music in the background that more or less distored the rest though i can hear bits here and there. I know that it is impossible to completly fix distortion, but is there anyway i can improve the videos even if its just a little bit better?

You have first to extract the audio from the video to a WAV file using Super or similar, then import the WAV into Audacity.

If you can only hear bits here and there is it worth bothering? If yes, and if it's distortion due to being too loud, add this plug-in to your Audacity plug-ins folder and restart it. Effect > Amplify, enter "-10" (no quotes) and OK, then run Effect > Clip Fix.

Another reason it could sound bad is that there is far too much bass or treble. Use Effect > Equalization to fix that and reduce the volume of the offending frequencies (low on the left of the graph, high on the right).

i'm new to this so sorry if this is a stupid question when equalizing did you mean the lower frequencies on the left high on the right or were you suggesting making the Eq that way to try to lower the distorion?

As you can see on the horizontal scale, the low frequencies with low Hz values are on the left, and the high frequencies are on the right. To reduce the volume of any frequency (high, low or medium), click below the horizontal line. The first click drags the whole graph down so you then click and drag upwards elsewhere to draw the curve you want. If you drag the curve above the horizontal line, that makes that frequency louder.
