Is there any way to moniter your input but not have a half second delay?? Or to be more specific can the delay caused by using software playthrough be fixed?

The delay occurs because your computer ha to procees the sound it is recording - normally the more pwerful the computer then the shorter the delay - but there will always be a delay using software playthrough (even if you were using the fastest supercomputer in the world). It's a bit like the tiny delay you get on a two head tape recorder where the record head is slightly forward of the playback head which provides the monitoring.

One way to not have a delay is to monitor the signal prior to its input to the computer - probably by using an external soundcard (my Edirol UA-1EX allows me to do this) -or by say using a mixing board.
