I'm running Windows XP SP3.

My Windows XP CD is an original Microsoft Windows XP CD. And there are no scratches on it...
The device is designed for Windows XP. So where is the problem? It's curious...

This will of course bypass the onboard soundcard in the M-Audio and will use instead the soudcard in your PC.
Have you tried this method I wrote about yesterday, bypassing the ADC and USB services on your M-Audio and plugging it in via the line-in on your PC?
