Recording with external USB soundcard.

Post by IndigoOn » Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:39 pm

When i am recording with the external USB soundcard (alesis M1 Active 320), i like to have a kick drum from my DAW to keep me in time. However when i record my guitar or what have you, audacity will then record the sound of the kick drum aswell as whats going through the inputs. I do not want the sound of the kick drum to be recorded.

is there a way to turn off a 'record what you hear' type prefrence?

i have no internal soundcard installed so choosing from a different one in the drop down box is not an option.

thanks for any help :ugeek:

Check the settings in your sound card control panel. Audacity will record whatever audio is sent to it, so you need to ensure that only the audio input source is sent to Audacity and not the sounds from the DAW.
