Uneven recording levels

Hello.

I'm using version 1.2.6 along with an NAD PP 3i and a Thorens TT.

The left channel is very slightly lower than the right. Barely noticeable, but it is.

While recording I go to the "Effects" tab but everything is grayed out, unusable.

Any suggestions here?

Remove any loud clicks with Effect > Click Removal or other means, then use Effect > Normalize which will make the peak loudness of both stereo channels the same.

Audacity does not yet perform effects on live audio. Click the yellow Stop button, then select some track to apply an effect to. You probably want Edit > Select... > All. See:
