I've recorded some audio with my digital camera, and whenever I try to import the .wav files to Audacity it says that the file type is not recognized. I try importing it raw but all I get is noise. Any help?

I would be really surprised if the camera was producing a WAV file. While very high quality, they take up enormous amounts of room in memory and would cause storage problems immediately in a small, portable device.

Consult your instructions as to what you really have. If it's a newer camera, My SWAG (Scientific Wild-Ass Guess) would be MP4 or AAC, not WAV. Audacity doesn't recognize any of those advanced formats.

Sometimes you can tell Windows to expose the file extensions for you to see and that might give you a hint. Explore > Tools > Folder Options. Windows likes to hide this information and it makes us crazy.
