Hi everybody
I am getting the following error box when trying to install 1.2.6 and 1.3.3...
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction
CS:0de4 IP:02d4 OP:63 68 61 72 73
(I can choose CLOSE or IGNORE...but IGNORE just keeps bringing up same error)
So I tried the zip file for both versions...1.2.6 and 1.3.3 both say invalid or corrupted. But the lame encoder zip works fine.
I'm running Windows XP, with a Pentium D dual core.
I have never had any trouble with Audacity on this machine in the past. I am putting it back on because I recently reformatted.

Are you using a download accelerator / manager? Many of these are
confused by the Sourceforge download pages, and don't work properly, giving a failed download.
Try disabling them and downloading the file using your standard web
browser and be sure to left click NOT right click > Save As ..
