Hey, I'm in a tight spot as I have to get this project done by tomorrow. I have to record sounds for my projet and I used my iPhone and the files was m4a so I converted it to MP3. When I tried importing the mp3 files, Audacity said it did not recognize the type of file and suggested that I try importing the sound as raw data. So I did that and the recording sound like a garbage disposal running lol. please help me. i'm so desperate. i never used audacity before and i tried many other sound program but it's pretty much the same thing so i don't know what the problem is.

Thank you!!

Install Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/
Install FFmpeg http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg
Import the m4a file directly into Audacity 1.3.13

When you have finished, export your completed audio as a WAV file.

See here for help getting started: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Getting_Started

I missed that movie. Gargly/Bubbly/honky? You exported as MP3, right? Try exporting again only this time increase the quality of the compression. Export > MP3 > Options > Quality. The default quality is 128, but you may need to boost it into the 200 or 300 range to not have additional damage. M4A from your iPhone is already compressed/processed and MP3 compression just makes it worse.

That's why Steve said to export as WAV which should not have this problem. You may not be able to upload those, however.
