I have two synths... a Roland SH-201 and a Yamaha MM6.
Audacity "sees" the Roland and records whatever I play just great... just like it's supposed to.
However, it DOES NOT detect, sense, or find my Yamaha MM6 synth at all. I've reinstalled the USB/MIDI drivers, restarted both the computer and the synth, checked settings in the synth. I know that the USB works in the Yamaha because I've connected it to other programs and they "see" it and communicate with it.
Can you make any suggestions on how I can get Audacity to recognize my Yamaha MM6?
I am running Audacity 1.2.6 . My "last ditch" effort was to try the beta version 1.3.13 but none of the "bug fixes" addressed my issue.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Re: Audacity doesn't see Yamaha MM6
The USB connection on the Yamaha MM6 transfers MIDI data not audio data.
MIDI is not audio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_In ... _Interface
Audacity can record audio but cannot currently record MIDI data.
To record audio (sound) from your MM6 in Audacity you should connect the Left/Right audio outputs of the MM6 to a "Line level" input of a computer sound card, then set Audacity to record from the line level input of the sound card.
