unable to record with delta 1010LT
I'm having a problem I never had with my old Firewire Audiophile interface which I used with my current xp pro sp2 athlon 2g machine. I now have a delta 1010LT which works great with my pro tools rig. Sometimes I want to use the simplicity of Audacity, but I can't get any record signal into it. I've done the recording input dropdown and the Delta is there and I select it, but still no input on the meter at the top or in waveform. Doesn't matter whether I select monitor in the delta control panel, which feeds the signal back throught the delta outputs. Input levels light up on the delta meters just fine. I just reinstalled the newest version of Audacity and no help.
Can anybody help me?
thanks in advance

Re: unable to record with delta 1010LT
Sometimes when you stump the band, we send you off to the Windows Sound Recorder to see how that works.
Windows Sound Recorder
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment
I predict that the WSR isn't going to work, either. Audacity depends on the straightforward setup of the Windows sound panels and services. It's easily confused by services trying to align themselves or some other coordination problem.
One other item, sometimes Audacity preferences don't "stick" until you restart the program.

I seem to remember a post where a user (possibly alatham) mentioned having problems with delta 1010LT when using the latest drivers for it, but an earlier driver worked correctly.

right on Koz--WSR ain't working either. Guess I'll have to dig a little deeper--I'm open to suggestion. . . Funny how pro tools works fine.I predict that the WSR isn't going to work, either. ProTools, by default, uses its own drivers, (not the standard Windows drivers),which only work with a limited range of supported hardware. Audacity uses the standard Windows drivers, which support most but not all hardware. Alatham's post indicates that there are drivers available for your sound card that work with Audacity.gregoregon wrote:Funny how pro tools works fine.

Re: unable to record with delta 1010LT
Thanks for the tip--I reinstalled the m-audio driver with the (only) one on the website dated 4/07, but it didn't change anything.Alatham's post indicates that there are drivers available for your sound card that work with Audacity.
In fooling around with the setup in recording volume control window on xp, when I choose my sound card, the volume button is greyed out. Choosing the built-in card lights it up for use. Looking around the net, I've found a few other folks with what seems to be the same problem, with no solution.

You could try looking on Driverguide.com for older drivers. I think that you need to register with an e-mail address, but it's free.
