Just needing a confirmation .. ? (micro recording)

Hello all,

First of all, thanks Gale for activating my account to let me posting from now.

I would like you (all experts you are ) to confirm me that I have to change everywhere where I find my internal audio board string : realtek in my case,
by my new audio board name: LIne6Toneport ux2 for instance when I edit my sound devices in windows setting and in Audacity preferences:
do you confirm ?

I'm not sure of that, but yesterday I did this and my first short tests confirm that I could, at last !!, record my micro input using Audacity,
I forgot to update Gearbox previously (damned !!) but it was not sufficient to solve my issue : and I finally had to replace everywhere the realtek ... string by LIne6Toneportux2 : windows settings (sound device) and audacity preferences :

is that the case in your own configuration ?
or do you have still somewhere your internal audio board referenced in Win XP and/or Audacity preferences ?

If I intend to use a computer only with an external (or additional internal) sound card and never use the on-board sound card, I disable the on-board sound card in BIOS. This prevents the on board sound card from appearing as an option for all programs, and most programs will then automatically select the new sound card as the default device.

If I intend to use a computer only with an external (or additional internal) sound card and never use the on-board sound card, I disable the on-board sound card in BIOS. This prevents the on board sound card from appearing as an option for all programs, and most programs will then automatically select the new sound card as the default device.

You can also uninstall the inbuilt sound device in "Device Manager" in the Windows Control Panel.
