exported wav files unusually large

i have found that when exporting completed tracks as wav files they tend to be more than twice the size than they would be were they to originate from a standard audio cd; for instance, a 12 minute track (comprised of 5 individual tracks, mixed down to two stereo tracks, and recorded in standard 16 bit, 44100 Hz format) when exported as a wav file takes up nearly 250 MB of disc space - yet a 12 minute track on a cd would only fill between 90 and 100 MB of disc space!

what am i doing wrong? and what is the most viable solution?

thank yous in advance.

"Edit > Preferences > File Formats"
Check that the "Uncompressed Export Format" is set to "WAV (Microsoft 16 bit PCM)".

"Edit > Preferences > Quality"
Check that defaults are set to 44100 Hz and 16 bit.

ahh, that was the problem - the other aspect (16 bit, 44100 Hz) was correct, i simply had left this part on 32 bit.

thank you!
