Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Hi,

I've got a 30 minute recording which crashed.

I've found the files which have been generated which consists of 241 short tracks.

Is there a way to put these back together quickly rather than having to inport them all one by one into Audacity? Surely there is?

Thanks

Hi,

It looks to me like there's only a way to import the files all at the same time using a mac with the correct utility? Is this correct?

Is there a way I can take the 241 items and put them back together using my PC and Audacity rather than having cut and paste them one by one?

Thanks

You have to use the correct version of Audacity Recovery Utility for Mac, according to whether you have an Intel Mac, or an older PPC one (like a G4).

Thanks Gale but as I said I've only got a PC and not a mac.

<<<I've only got a PC >>>

That would be a Windows PC.

Crash Recovery

That's pretty much all we got. I didn't think it was hardware specific.

Yes, Koz, Crash Recovery Utility has different versions for Windows and the two Mac architectures.
I don't think anyone else has been confused before, but looks like I better put a direct link to the Windows version of Crash Recovery Utility on our Crash Recovery Page. You can get it by following the first link to "Audacity Recovery Utility". Anyway, a direct link to it is here.

This is a good example that while it may "seem" more logical to post a new question to the end of an existing topic, starting a fresh topic is best. You mentioned Mac (presumably because it was referenced earlier in this thread) and stating "my PC" doesn't necessarily counter that as I've often seen Macs referred to as Mac PCs (= Personal Computers)...

Brilliant!

That's great! Thanks!

I'm sorry for the confusion - I don't ever remember saying that I had a mac just asking is there a version for PC?

Well I'm up and running now and I guess that's a whole day's time saved by this genius program!

Thanks again!

Just to point out that crash recovery is much improved in the Beta release of the software - and 1.3 is now pretty stable, I use it all the time.

I've had occasion to use recovery in 1.3.6 a couple of times recently (when I had to force a crash to get the misbehaving timed recording to stop). Both times the automated recovery was invoked by Audacity on starting up Audacity and the projects restored properly.

So you're saying that the software doesn't crash as much in 1.3?

and.....

In 1.3 if it does crash the system will recover the files on the next start rather than having to use the recovery application?

Thanks
