Thanks for the note - it is 1.3 Beta on a windows 7 computer - i can recreate the issue by starting a new project, recording the first, crisp line and the subsequent lines sound muffled - for me it has to be something built into the settings but i can't find it...will continue to look and would appreciate any further help until i get the chance to rerecord!

1.3 beta doesn't give us enough information, we need to know the third number too.

If you go Help menu -> About it should tell you exactly what version you have.

Should be something like "Audacity ® 1.3.13-beta (Unicode)".

You should be using version 1.3.13

If that's not your version you can get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

if you know of anyway to fix in this version that would be sweet

I have tried putting all of the data on one line and the first part is clean and the other bits are 'dirty / fuzzy' - is there an effect / something i can run over the whole thing to at least make it consistent if not clean?

1) Record the first track
2) Mute the first track
3) Record a second track.

If so, what happened?
