Multiple recording issues

I'm currently using Audacity for a podcast and I'm experiencing problems that I've never had before - until now. Forum help needed! Here are the 2 main issues I've encountered:

1) Copying and pasting an audio track from one to another doesn't work properly. During playback the pasted track plays in fast forward giving off this chipmunk sound to the track itself.

2) Crashing issues. Whether it be recording voice, putting the final touches on a track, or importing audio; for unknown reasons, it crashes issuing an immediate closure of Audacity. It's getting to the point that I can't use the program without it huckuping and crashing.

I figured the issues stemmed from a pour download. However, the problems persists even after re-downloading Audacity for the 3rd time. So, as a last ditch effort, before looking for another editing tool to use, I'd try the forums for help.

You can't reinstall Audacity by reinstalling Audacity. There is a special preference file you need to modify to cause Audacity to "Start Over." No downloading needed.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13.
You can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Problem 1 is probably because the old 1.2.6 version does not support multiple sample rates in the same track.
Problem 2 is probably because your computer is too new for the old 1.2. version.
