To my new friends in the Audacity chat world. My problem is this: I use Windows XP. I have an Ion machine, with a USB port. I use the Audacity 1.2.6 download version. While downloading LP's my "monitor input" stopped functioning. I have difficulty without hearing the music, when it strats & ends. To download without this feature, for me, would create downloading problems into my Itunes library. Can anyone tell me how to get this function operable again? Thanks good people>

Malfunctioning "monitor input"

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Malfunctioning "monitor input"
Harold,
try this page from the Wiki first: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... turntables
There could well be enough info. to help you there - if you still have problems after that, post back.
BTW the ION manuals used to have a couple of errors:
1) they didn't tell you that when you plug the USB device in, control of all sound services is passed to the USB device - so you need to redirect the sound output back to your PC's onboard soundcard - in both Windows and Audacity
2) control over the input level is passed to the USB device and the Audacity Mic slider is inoperable - fortunately the ION has a gain/volume control - a little knurled wheel underneath at the back
