Way to recover editing changes????

Post by asad339 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 10:00 pm

I apologize if this is [Spam web link removed] in the forum, but all the crash recovery information that I can find seems to pertain only to crashes which occur while recording.

Audacity crashed while I was in the midst of editing my (finished) recording. I was very disheartened because I had not saved in a substantial period of time. I was wondering if Audacity 1.2.6 has any kind of auto-save that would allow me to recover changes made while editing

Audacity 1.2 was not very good at that, which is why we recommend an immediate upgrade to Audacity 1.3.

In any event, when you close Audacity without Saving or Exporting, all the changes, temp clips, UNDO, etc, vanish. They're "cleaned up" so they don't take up drive space. Another common problem is people insist on saving their work on top of the old work, effectively destroying the emergency recovery path.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.

That's called Edit > UNDO and both versions do that just fine. Audacity has an "Auto Save" feature that last time I asked, doesn't work.
