When I'm recording, if I sing mantaining a note or hold a key, the volume at the beginning is fine, then after a second it suddenly drops to a third of its volume. I usually play piano pieces with tons of pedal, and it happens the same: if all the piece has tons of echo and sustained pedal, it all drops dow. I have to produce sudden, fast notes to be recorded on a normal volume; any sound that goes on and on will have its volume pushed down.
I'm using my laptop's in-built microphone, but I once tried with a real one and it happened all the same.
This is a pain, since I like using long-lasting sounds and reverb and stuff. Help plz, what could it be?
My volumes fades as I record long, sustained notes. HELP.

It's a sound card setting.
Go into your sound card settings and disable all effects and enhancements - search thoroughly, some of them may be well hidden.
The main culprit may be called something like "Noise Reduction" or "Echo Cancellation", but turn off all effects and enhancements.

Windows comes out of the box these days set for video and audio conferencing, pretty much the exact opposite of the settings you need for theatrical recording.
