Changing Voice

Hi,

I am recording some narration for a picture/video montage. I would like to change my voice. I've played around with changing pitch, tempo, speed, a little bit but I'm wondering if there are any "ideal" settings to use. It seems the changes I make still gives me a voice that doesn't sound great. It seems that you can independently change the tempo or the pitch, and if you want to change both together, you can change the speed?? I am guessing that you would get better results by changing them separately, though I don't know. Does the output depend much on the voice in the original file, or if you change the settings enough, does the original not matter that much?? Are there other tools that might help me out?

This is very new to me - so don't worry about sounding too basic;-)

Thanks for any pointers you can give me.

It all depends on how you want to change the sound - there are many effects that will change a voice in different ways. Also many plug-in effects available for download from the main Audacity site. I think the best thing that you can do is to play with them and discover what they can do.
