Audacity and Acid Pro 7 Q ?

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be kind.

I tried doing a search for 'Acid' related topics but couldn't find anything to answer my question, so I'm hoping to pick the brains of someone here if possible. Anyways, here's the question-

I have Windows 7 and Acid Pro 7, both work just fine. I added Audacity as my external editor in Acid and if I right click a loop or clip it starts up as expected with the chosen clip loaded. So I do a bit of editing, maybe silence a beat or something....

But how on earth do I get to insert the edited result back to Acid in it's edited form ? No matter what I do it doesn't seem to update Acid, or even save the clip back to where it came from ?

Is there any way to do this ? Or is it a case of saving the edited sound as a new wav and re-importing it back into Acid ?

I'm not sure that we will be able to help much as this is more a question about Acid than it is about Audacity.

You may be able to update the file in Acid by overwriting the original WAV file (assuming that it is a WAV file that you are using in Acid). You would do that by "Exporting" from Audacity with the same name and location as the file that you have imported into Audacity to edit.

If that doesn't work, then you should be able to Export as a new WAV file, then open that in Acid.

Note that Audacity does not support the "Acidized" loop data.

It may be worth re-asking this question on an Acid forum, but if you do find the best way to do this, please post back to let us know, it could be useful for other users.

After further research, the only way to do it I've found is to save the edited file back to the C:/documents/Acid7 projects/ folder with the same filename. But this obviously destroys the original wav... So it's best to save your acid project first to another folder/name and copy all the media files with it so you have a 'previous' version to go back to. Or, you can find the original copy of the wav and copy it back into the working folder again to overwrite the edited version. In both cases, as long as the filename is the same, Acid will update the altered file automatically.

In short, it's a bit of a pain. But it's possible. Hope that helps someone looking to do the same thing.
