I HAVE TRIED FOR HOURS TO EXTEND ONE NOTE (c3) AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE CLICKS.
HAVE TRIED TO FIND 0 POINTS TO CUT AND PASTE AND NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET RID OF THE CLICKS. WHEN TRYING TO CUT THAT SECTION WITH THE CLICKS I GET MORE CLICKS. I HAVE TRIED TO FOLLOW THE FORUM SUGGESTIONS AND NOTHING SEEM TO WORK. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG? REALLY NEED HELP!!

Please don't type in all upper-case (capitals), it's hard on the eyes and is generally considered to be the equivalent of shouting.
What instrument is the note played on?
Are there other sounds combined with it?
Which version of Audacity are you using? (this will probably be a lot easier with Audacity 1.3.13 than with the old 1.2 version)
Could you export that one note as a WAV file (Select the note then use "Export Selection")
Then use the "Upload Attachment" feature below the forum's compose message box.
How long do you want the note to be?

Re: NEED HELP TO EXTEND SINGLE NOTE WITHOUT CLICKS
Thank you so much for responding. Sorry about the "caps". I am a classical musician and not a computer person but do have some working knowledge of it.
I just signed on with Audacity 1.26 about a week ago. (I am using Windows Xp.. would version 1.3.13 work ?
The note is a single instrument Flute and needs to be extended 3 seconds.

Yes it does, and I'd highly recommend it.FLAN wrote:I am using Windows Xp.. would version 1.3.13 work ?
The instructions below are using Audacity 1.3.13
Download here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
First I've made it into a mono track (the flute is panned entirely to the right in your stereo file) by splitting to mono, then deleting the silent track:
- Click on the name of the track
- Select "Split to Mono" (not available in 1.2.6)
- Click on the [X] in the top left corner of the silent track to delete it.
Then select a region of the track where the start and the end are about the same height:
Press the "Z" key to snap the ends of the selection to the nearest "zero crossing" point (not available in 1.2.6)
Finally, select "Repeat" from the Effect menu and enter "1" to repeat the selection once, or "2" to repeat the selection twice (not sure if you want a total length of 3 seconds, or if you want to add three seconds).
Here's the result: Here's a close-up of the beginning of the selection that shows the selection starting at a "zero crossing point"

Re: NEED HELP TO EXTEND SINGLE NOTE WITHOUT CLICKS
Click on "Edit" at the top of the main Audacity window. "Amplify" should be up at the top of the list, immediately after "Repeat Last Effect".
If you have a lot of plug-ins installed, or are working on a very small screen, you may need to scroll up the list of effects.
