Delete Selection

I apologize up front because I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times. I've searched the FAQ, the archives, and the forum with no success.

Using 1.26 I simply want to delete 3/100th of a second from an mp3 file. I successfully make the selection but the delete under edit is greyed out. I kow I'm missing something obvious.

Are you sure that you have the region of the track selected? (zoom in close with the zoom tool).
How about with 5/100ths second? 1/10th second? 1/2 second?

BTW, you know that MP3's always have a short silence at the beginning of the file? (it's a "feature" of the format).

I tested with 1.2 - and with zoom fully in I was able to delete even a single sample, once it was selected properly.

I zoomed in further and the "delete" function was not grayed out. As a result, I was able to complete my task.
