Settings Still There After Uninstalling

Hi,

I had Skype when I downloaded Audacity. I read that Skype causes phaser effects in the recordings. I want only clean sounds. I uninstalled Skype, but Audacity still had the undesirable phaser noise. I tried uninstalling Audacity and reinstalling it. After I reinstalled Audacity, all of the setting were there that Skype had done. I really just want to download the clean Audacity with no Skype noise. Is that possible?

David.

Skype causes a lot of problems, but phaser effects isn't one of them. That's caused by you're needing to record internet audio.

Where to start.

-- Stop using Audacity 1.2. It has problems with modern computers.

-- I don't know that you have to stop using Skype, but it has to be firmly closed before you start recording.

-- Look for Windows Sound Enhancements and turn them off.

All the settings for recording Internet Audio have to be turned off. No capture from Stereo Mix. Follow these instructions backwards.

Resetting Audacity to Factory Defaults is tricky. Try uninstalling 1.2 before you install 1.3. If your old settings and preferences show up, then you need to manually reset the preference files.

Enjoy.

You never said what you wanted to record. If it's internet audio, then you need to follow those instructions forward.
