split multiple yields 2 sec scrambled tracks
I got mp3 Lame Encoder and Edit->Split a single track into two tracks. I then clicked File->Export Multiple, selected MP3, selected Export location of 'C:UsersMetrial and created a folder named 'trial' in that location, and chose 'Numbering consecutively' with File name prefix 'trial'. I then clicked 'Export' and a dialog box showed reading 'Successfully exported 2 files.' I then located the 2 files and opened them. Both played a scrambled noise and were 2 seconds long. The original file was .wav and obviously hadn't been scrambled or only 4 seconds long.

For Windows 7 you should use Audacity 1.3.12 (or 1.3.13 when it is released later this month)
