Audio Recording Problem
OK, I am very new at this, I have read all the info I can find and can not find the answer....I need to import audio into audacity and change the KEY of the song once there. Is this possible? I have JustKaraoke with my music on it, and I change the key to what I need it to be, but when I upload it to audacity it is the original key. Then my voice doesnt match. How do I fix this problem??
Re: Audio Recording Problem
The pitch of a track can be changed either with "Change Speed", or "Change Pitch" (both are in the "Effect" menu).
"Change Pitch" will change the pitch of the music without changing the speed. This option is probably a bit easier to use as you can enter the pitch change in semi-tones, or as note letters. The downside of this effect is that because it is "stretching" the sound, there will be some sound quality loss. The bigger the change that you apply, the worse the sound quality.
"Change Speed" changes both the pitch and the tempo - it's like changing the playback speed of a record or tape. If you increase the speed, the pitch will go up and it will play faster. If you decrease the speed the pitch will go down and it will play slower. The sound quality of this effect is very good, though large changes in speed will make vocals sound a bit weird.

Thanks SO much for your answer! I will try that! I may have more answers in the future, I am finding this is a hard program to learn. But Thanks AGAIN
Re: Audio Recording Problem
If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3 (highly recommended) there is a manual included (in the "Help" menu), and there's a lot of Tutorials and other Tips available on-line (see links below this post).
