Hello,

I am very new to Forums but have used on older version of Audacity for

quite a while and have found it very good. For years I have used an

old 300 mhz Windows 2000 laptop.... But my new laptop came with Windows 7...

Will 1.2.x run properly .... I only run one application at a time so Audacity

would be the only thing running. I just do very basic editing and do not use any

plugins.

I would appreciate any answers you might care to give.

I have to sign off now but hope someone will answer.

Thank you for your time

PL

Not really. On some Win 7 machines it may run well enough to be usable, but there are known problems. There's also been many problems with 1.2.6 on Vista and Win 7 that have been reported here on the forum, but no-one follows them up because Audacity 1.2.x is no longer developed, so bugs are not going to be fixed. In short, your mileage may vary, but it's not recommended.

Basic functions in Audacity 1.3 are pretty much the same as in 1.2, though a few menu items have been moved. It should not take long to get used to the new version.
The standard Windows installer includes a fairly comprehensive manual (in the Help menu) and there is also a "Quick Help" which provides information about many of the most common tasks.
