Delay On Input Audio
I'm trying to use audacity to record some bass tracks. I'm using a Behringer Guitar Link UCG102 to record the bass track. I got a track pulled up & the tone of my bass sounds great however there is a slight delay from when I pluck my bass & when I hear it via monitor input. Tried & tried to figure out how to work this out of it & can't. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Delay On Input Audio
If you are monitoring the signal after it has got to Audacity, i.e. the sound from you PC then I would expect a latency delay as the siganl has to pass though the computer's hardware and software and this takes a little time (not a lot, but noticeable).
If you are monitoring with headphones plugged into the 1/4 inch headphone input on the UCG then I would expect no such delay.

Re: Delay On Input Audio
thats what blows my mind.....I have my westones plugged into the UCG & it still has the delay. I thought maybe there was some sort of delay set in preferences or something, but I dug into the program for an hour last night & couldn't figure it out. Very strange.

Re: Delay On Input Audio
Strange indeed
My understanding is that by plugging into the phones input on the UCG you should be hearing hardware monitoring - that is getting the signal before it ever gets to the PC, So the only latency there should be down to the length of the cables Guitar-UCG and UCG-phones/speakers - and the signal moves through there at close to the speed of light. So unless the UCG is doing some processing before it passes the signal on to the phones socket I don't see where the delay/latency is coming from.

Re: Delay On Input Audio
came home & spent two hours trying to get the delay out...it sucks! audacity is so user friendly but I can't record anything cuz of this stupid delay I'm getting...help!!!!!!
Re: Delay On Input Audio
You may be listening to the sound of the bass after it has done a round trip through Audacity.
Go into "Preferences" (Edit menu) and in the "Audio I/O" tab, if "software playthrough" is selected, de-select it.
