SELECTION PROBLEM THAT'S DRIVING ME MAD!

Hey, I've been using Audacity to edit an interview that I did for my student radio station and it was all going fine, then all of a sudden the mouse won't select anything apart form the exact second! So if i'm trying to click at about 1.5 seconds it won't let me and automaticall selects either 1 second or 2, and it does the same thing when I'm dragging! I have no idea if I've just accidentely changed a setting or something but I can't finish it until I sort it out! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jackd779

Uncheck the "Snap To" at the bottom left of the Audacity window

Oh I feel like such an idiot that it was so simple! I literally tried uninstalling and reinstalling the programme and everything! Thank you!

Don't worry - you're not the first person that has accidentally turned on snap-to - and you certainly won't be the last

Audacity has a complex interface for the cleverer stuff (so this makes for a few bear-traps for the unwary) - somewhat disguised by the simplicity of the basic GUI which should look familaiar to most folk who have ever used a tape deck or VCR.

Edit: oh and BTW do yoursef a big favour and upgrade to 1.3.12 (and keep a lookout for 1.3.13 which should be out soon). You can get 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
