The message pops up if you try to export MP3 when Audacity can't find lame_enc.dll. Have you browsed for where you installed the .dll and told Audacity where it is?

Try these instructions:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Lame_ ... #All_users

then if Audacity still does not recognise lame_enc.dll, try the 3.98.4 dll here instead.

The file you are trying to open from the Audacity Preferences is "lame_enc.dll". If you obtained a zip of lame_enc.dll you have to unzip it before Audacity can open it.

Are you sure you tried the 3.98.4 lame_enc.dll? If so, try these instead:

* "libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip" from http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/

* lame_enc.dll (3.98.2) without manifest:
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/lame_enc_no_manifest.zip

If you need a tool to unzip the above, try 7-Zip:
http://www.7-zip.org/

Do you use iTunes? You can export from Audacity as WAV and convert to MP3 in iTunes.
